About my Work
I am a Christian, husband, father, grandfather and finally a woodturner.  Those are the order of my priorities.  I believe God bestows each one of us with various skills and gifts.  I try to use mine for His glory.

As a woodturning artist I make vases, bowls, platters and other 3 dimensional objects. I create unique pieces of art. Each one is individually numbered and signed.

I primarily use woods local to Arizona having interesting grain and pattern compositions. My designs incorporate the natural beauty of each piece’s unique, innate color characteristics.

In going green, I reclaim wood meant for landfills, giving it new purpose. In support of responsible forestry I refuse to use endangered species.

I have written articles for magazines, demonstrated at woodturning clubs across the country and taught many new turners how to use a wood lathe.

The finishing process I have developed results in the finish being part of the completed piece, not just sprayed on. A finish that is just sprayed on can chip off but my finish penetrates the wood pores, and several coats are built up before polishing and final buffing with a linen wheel. This actually allows light to penetrate into the wood because the wood's pores are filled with finish and become like fiber optic strands which gives the wood a chatoyancy, almost holographic look.

What I most enjoy about woodturning is being able to teach it to underprivileged kids and anyone who wants to learn. I have developed a shop program for kids 8 years old and up that allows them to develop secondary skills and to be able to complete a variety of projects with their hands.

Please note, given the natural state of wood, it is always in movement.  It gives off moisture or takes it in.  A good finish slows down this process but it cannot be prevented entirely.  The wood will always seek its natural balance.

Measurements given are to the nearest 1/8 inch.
Natural edged pieces assume the diameter of the widest portion.
