I really enjoy
turning wood. I
find my time on the
wood lathe relaxing.
I look for what God
has put into the wood for us to find. It never ceases to
amaze me what is revealed
in the wood through grain, color and fiber
orientation .I use the gifts and skills that God has given to me. I have an idea of the shape I'm going for, but I try to let each piece reflect what is inside. Each piece is unique and shows the wood's individual character. In going green, I reclaim wood meant for landfills, giving it new purpose. I support responsible forestry and I refuse to use endangered species. When selecting wood I search for interesting grain and pattern compositions which will result in dramatic effects. I primarily use woods local to Arizona. My designs incorporate the natural beauty of each piece’s unique, innate color characteristics. All my pieces have a finish on them but I prefer a clear or less pigmented finish. This lets the wood's natural beauty show through. Each piece is signed, individually numbered and has the type of wood it is made from on the bottom. Please have a look around and enjoy yourself! What you will find here are bowls, boxes, plates, platters, dishes and goblets. These make great gifts as pieces of art. Displaying wooden bowls on your shelf can create an interesting display of art. If you aren't familiar with what an ichthus is, click on the fish above! Please check back periodically as new work will be posted as it is completed. May God bless you, Tom Tunget |

1/2" wide. Many elements are happening in this set. The sticks progress by 1" in height and 1/4" in width than the previous. All three captive rings are at the same height and when the set is viewed head on and from a distance of about ten inches, from the smallest to the largest, all the design elements line up. Also each piece is made from a subsequently smaller piece of Acacia as the candlesticks get bigger. Finished in Lacquer. Consider trimming all candles to the same height to add another element, or reversing the flow with the tallest candle in the smallest holder! |
